PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the design size of a frame and to attain a narrower picture frame by sealing a sealing port with a sealing agent that makes the outer peripheral surface flush with the outer peripheral edges of substrates, and covering the outer peripheral edges of the substrates with the frame. SOLUTION: Liquid crystal is filled between two glass substrates 8 from the sealing port 10 of the outer peripheral edges 9 of these substrates and the sealing port 10 is sealed with a sealing agent 11. The outer peripheral edges 9 of the glass substrates 8 are covered with the frame 12 inclusive of the sealing agent 11 of the sealing port 10. The build-up portions formed on the outer peripheral surface of the sealing agent 11 of the sealing port 10 at the time of sealing are chipped away by parallel sliding a cutter knife along the outer peripheral edges 9 of the glass substrates 8 until these portions are made nearly flush with the outer peripheral edges 9 of the glass substrates 8. In such a case, there is no more need for adding the excessive size corresponding to the build-up component of the sealing agent 11 from the end faces of the glass substrates 8 in designing of the frame 12 and the external shape of the liquid crystal display panel mounted with the frame 12 is mad smaller.
