PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain best display quality by analyzing the data displayed on a picture, selecting a common line in order of that the change of the display data is the littlest and driving it. SOLUTION: A controller 14 accesses the data in a video memory 12, and analyzes the correlation of the segment data, etc., turned on/off in the unit of common lines COM1-COMj. The drive potential of the respective common lines COM1-COMj is decided with the order that the pattern of the data is most similar according to the analytical result to be transmitted to a common driver 16, and simultaneously, the patterns of the segment data are transmitted to a segment driver 18 by the common lines COM1-COMj classifications relevant to the order information. At this time, the common driver 16 and the segment driver 18 convert respective inputted data, etc., to a signal of a high voltage to output it to a liquid crystal display element LCD. Thus, the segment data applied to the liquid crystal display element LCD drive segment lines SEG1-SEGj.
