Process for treating the surface of an item made in anodized aluminum or an anodized aluminum alloy involves applying a film of silicone oil (7) onto the surface and submitting the oil, as it is applied, to an external mechanical action which compresses it against the surface. The compression is achieved using one or more oiled rollers, driving in rotation against the surface to be treated. Independent claims are also included for (1) Application of this process to an item which is then to be consolidated cold, with steam or with hot water; and (2) Anodized aluminum or anodized aluminum alloy items obtained using the above process.
