An electrode connector (20) including bottom (24) and upper (26) jaw members movable between open and closed positions for holding a thin flexible electrode (22). The electrode connector (20) includes an electrical contact assembly (52) comprising a contact platform (54) attached to either the bottom (24) or upper jaw (26) members and a contact pin (56) attached to the contact platform (54). The contact platform (54) is configured to form an electrical contact with a contact area (60) of the flexible electrode (22). The contact pin (56) is disposed in an aperture (62) in the flexible electrode (22). When the jaw members (24, 26) close, electrical contact is formed and maintained without permanently deforming the contact area (60). The electrical contact assembly (52) further comprises a recess formed in either the bottom (24) or upper (26) jaw members opposite the contact pin (56). The recess receives both the contact pin (56) and a portion of the contact area (60). The contact assembly (52) is configured to provide a visual indicator for correct alignment.
