The checkout desk has a first conveyor (5) leading to a cash register (2) where purchased goods are charged for. A second conveyor (9) leads to a packing station (10). At the end of the first conveyor, and beside the cash register, a path leads to the second conveyor. The path is arranged at an angle to the first and to the second conveyors. The path may drop downwards to the second conveyor. The path may comprise a driven conveyor belt or a roller conveyor.
