The invention concerns a pneumatic brake booster for a motor vehicle power-assist braking system, comprising a rigid shell (3), a mobile partition (4) sealingly delimiting a front chamber (5a) and a rear chamber (5b) inside the shell (3), a pneumatic piston (6), and a three-way control valve (61), the mobile partition being mobile between a non operating position whereby the rear chamber has a minimum volume, and an actuating position whereby the rear chamber has a maximum volume. The invention is characterised in that the rear chamber minimum volume is at most equal to one-tenth of said chamber maximum volume. The invention enables to reduce the brake booster response time.
