The leads of a plurality of electrical components are simultaneously bent through apertures a circuit board and the board is then dip-soldered to secure the electrical components. A circuit board 23 apertured at 24 is placed on a table 10 with the apertures 24 over corresponding holes in the table 10. A plurality of leads or conductors 27 are then placed over the apertures 24, being positioned either by the engagement of their terminal ends with slots 26 on a bar 25 on the table 10, or by causing pilot portions 19 of needles 17 to be inserted in the apertures 24 and then positioning the leads 27 against the portions 19. The needles 17 are carried by a cross member 14 urged upwardly by springs 15, 16 and guided by pillars 12, 13 slidable in the table 10. With the leads 27 positioned, the member 14 is lowered so that the needles 17 bend all the leads 27 simultaneously through the apertures 24, Fig. 2B, the ends 31, 32 springing outward to bear on the undersurface of the board 23 on upward movement of the needles 17. The pilot portions 19 of the needles may be dispensed with when the slotted bar 25 is provided. In an alternative arrangement leads 27c, Fig. 3B, may be pulled through the apertures 24 by hooked needles 33. More than one lead or conductor may be pushed or pulled through the same aperture 24. A conductor 38, Fig. 4B, may be pushed or pulled in loop form into one or more apertures 24. A further wire 42, Fig. 4C, may be threaded through a loop 41 so formed. A magnetic memory plane may be wired to the board as above. |
