A method and apparatus for providing aseptically processed low acid products in a container (12) having a small opening, such as a glass or plastic bottle or jar, at a high output processing speed. The exterior and interior of a plurality of bottles (12) are aseptically disinfected and filled with product (50). The plurality of bottles (12) are displaced within a sterilization chamber (90) by a bottle conveyor (106), and a sterilant application apparatus sterilizes the outside of the bottle conveyor (106). A plurality of sterile zones (164, 165, 166, 172), formed within a sterilization tunnel (90), provide a plurality of sterilant concentration levels and gas flow rates within the sterilization tunnel (90).
