NOVEL MUCOSAL DELIVERY SYSTEM

Compositions for the delivery of biologically interactive substances via a mucosal membrane, vaccines and formulations as well as mucosal delivery systems comprising an oxygen-containing metal salt are described herein. Furthermore, methods of generating immune responses, vaccinations and treatments of vertebrates, including human beings, as well as methods of treating, preventing or alleviating allergic reactions are described. A process for preparing the compositions, the vaccines, and the formulations is disclosed. The compositions and delivery systems are useful in a wide range of applications.
