Collected domestic refuse is transported by the garbage truck (1) into a chute (2), from where it is moved by a slide (3) into a large washer drum (4). The drum is rotated by a drive (7) via small rollers (8). Water is supplied by a sprinkler (9) via pipes. The drum is submerged up to approx. 1/3 in a washer container (10). Washer refuse is further sorted on vibrator panels (25). Water drains (12) feed the water into a separator (16), where water and solids are separated by sedimentation. Sufficient time is allowed, so that it can be processed further without the presence of any water. The water is tested for contamination and returned for further use.
