<p>The present invention relates to a radiation generation method that uses an extended area of interaction between the radiation to be generated and the electrons flowing through a tunnel junction. This method also uses electrodes (1, 8) made of an electroconductive material and having an elongated shape in order to define a waveguide structure with reduced optical losses that channels the generated radiation along the extended interaction area. This invention also relates to a device for generating a radiation (according to claim 1) that may consist of at least two electrodes (1, 8) approximately parallel to a substrate (15) made of a dielectric material and transparent to the radiation to be generated. The electrodes are further protected by a coating that consists of a solid and optically transparent isolator exhibiting a minimal absorption of the radiation to be generated.</p> |
