Metallization of plastic surfaces involves (a) pickling the plastic surfaces under moderate pickling conditions; (b) treating the plastic surfaces with a metal salt solution which contains a salt from cobalt -, silver -, tin - and lead; (c) treating the plastic surfaces with a sulfide solution and (d) metallizing the plastic surfaces in a metallizing bath.
