<p>The blanket, having a rectified, polished or moulded lithographic layer, at least one reinforcing or supporting layer and at least one compressible layer, has one or more of its surface properties, especially its totalk surface energy, polar energy or average roughness varying in a transverse direction across the blanket's outer surface. The total surface energy varies, for example, between two end terminals by between 5 and 50 mJ/sq m, and preferably 10 - 20 mJ/sq m, or the surface roughness varies by between 0.3 and 2 microns. The surface property variation can be produced by photo-chemical etching, mechanical treatment e.g. by laser, or moulding.</p> |
