PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject unit designed to obviate such a problem that, when a cut rootstock seedling is nipped with nipping pieces on both sides of a relevant device and transferred to a joint section in the front portion of a joint device, the rootstock seedling may bend or get inclined, resulting in the maljointing of a scion seedling thereto and thereby decline in graft performance. SOLUTION: This unit is so designed that, the upper end of a rootstock seedling nipping piece 31 on one side of a rootstock seedling nipping and transferring device 10 is extended to the lower part of the cotyledon of the rootstock seedling nipped on the device 10 so as to prevent the rootstock seedling from falling down, and the tip of a joint device 16 is provided with a guide 53 to guide the rootstock seedling and further prevent it from falling down.
