METHOD OF ATTACHING A CONNECTOR TO A COAXIAL CABLE AND THE RESULTING ASSEMBLY

A method of attaching a connector to a coaxial cable having concentric inner and outer conductors comprises the following steps. An end of the cable is prepared to expose a portion of the inner conductor and to expose a portion of the outer con ductor. An insulative disc of the connector is installed onto the exposed portion of the inner conductor. An inner contact of the connector is installed onto the exposed porti on of the inner conductor. A solder preform is installed onto the exposed portion of the o uter conductor. A body member of the connector is installed over the solder preform o nto the exposed portion of the outer conductor. To complete the cable assembly, the sold er preform is melted to firmly attach the body member of the connector to the expos ed portion of the outer conductor of the cable.
