METHOD FOR BLOWING GAS INTO MOLTEN IRON

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the service life of a tuyere by controlling to suitable cooling condition according with the lapse of blowing time. SOLUTION: In the case of executing stirring of molten iron by blowing gas from a tuyere using one or more pieces of single tube nozzles, either one or both of gas blowing rate and gas composition are changed so thatαin the equation becomes 0.10-0.60. In the equation, C in the sp. heat of gas (Kcal/ m2/K), Q is the gas flowing rate per one piece of the single tube (Nm3/s), (q) is the effective reaction heat (Kcal/Nm3), T is the molten iron temp. ( deg.C), (n) is conversion factor, TMR is the solidus temp. of molten iron as the developing temp. of mushroom ( deg.C) and (i) of lower attached character shows the kind of gas.
