PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat exchanger which can efficiently transfer heat from a side surface of a cylindrical heat source by means of a simple and inexpensive construction. SOLUTION: The heat exchanger comprises a porous flat metal pipe 1 wherein a large number of long pores are parallelly arranged, and working liquid is sealed in the pores. The pipe 1 has a columnar shape having a spiral cross section, and at the center of columnar shape, the pipe 1 is wound around the side surface of a cylindrical heat source 4.
