PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calender or press paper webs of various breadths with a heating roll or a backup roll. SOLUTION: This shoe roll 10 for the press part of a paper machine or calendering has at least two shoes 14A and 14B joined with the body 13 of a roll mantle or belt 16 within itself. Presses 15A and 15B put loads on a heating roll 20 in a calender or a backup roll in a pressing part. Each of the shoes 14A and 14B is different in their breadths from each other so as to calender paper webs of various breadths on the heating roll or to press paper webs of various breadths on the backup roll.
