PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator electromagnetic brake opening device capable of releasing braking force of an elevator brake safely and easily. SOLUTION: An electromagnetic brake is composed of a pair of main levers 6 provided with brake springs 14 and applying braking force by making linings 11 abut on a cylindrical brake drum 12 mounted to a rotary shaft of an elevator hoisting machine; an electromagnetic device composed of a core, a plunger and a coil; a pair of L-shaped levers 5 rotated to transmit the movement of the plunger moving vertically upward to the core side when the coil is excited, to horizontally move the main levers 6 by specified dimension; and auxiliary springs 8 provided at one ends of the C-shaped levers 5 and imparting force for previously offsetting the weight of the plunger. In such constitution, an electromagnetic brake opening device is provided with brake spring pressure releasing devices 15, 16, 18 for rotating the L-shaped levers 5 in the pressure applying direction of the auxiliary springs 8.
