PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for detecting an accident in bathtub capable of surely and early discovering the abnormal sinking of head of a bathing person with high possibility to death by drowning inside a bathtub and of quickly relieving the bathing person. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a first position detecting means 3 capable of detecting the position of a body 2a of a bathing person 2 in a bathtub 1 lower than a water surface 1c of the bathtub, a second position detecting means 4 capable of detecting the position of a head 2b of the bathing person 1, a discriminating means 5 for discriminating the abnormal sinking of the head 2b on the basis of both the detecting outputs of the first and second position detecting means 3 and 4 and a forced draining means 7 for forcedly draining hot water in the bathtub 1 on the basis of the discriminated result of the discriminating means 5, the first position detecting means 3 is provided with a first sensor part 3a capable of transmitting/receiving an ultrasonic signal lower than the lower limit of ordinary water level at the time of bathing in the bathtub 1 and the second position detecting means 4 is provided with a second sensor part 4a capable of transmitting/receiving an ultrasonic signal higher than the upper limit of ordinary water level.
