PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a vinyl chloride resin latex, which is able to provide a plastisol having a good viscosity characteristic in microsuspension polymerization, has a reduced degree of formation of a coagulated matter and is mechanically stable. SOLUTION: For the production of a vinyl chloride polymer latex by microsuspension polymerization of vinyl chloride or a mixture of vinyl chloride and an unsaturated monomer copolymerizable therewith, a dispersant system composed of (A) an alkali metal alkylsulfate or an alkali metal alkylbenzenesulfonate and (B) a linear fatty higher alcohol is used in an amount of 0.1 to 10.0 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of a monomer charge at a molar ratio of (B)/(A) of 2.0 to 8.0 wherein (B) has a distribution, based on a molar fraction, of (a) not less than 50% of a fatty acid having 10 to 13 carbon atoms, (b) 33 to 40% of a fatty alcohol having 14 to 17 carbon atoms, and (c) not larger than 17% of a fatty alcohol having 18 or more carbon atoms.
