PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for an elevator capable of preventing fouling of a body case for enclosing an air suction fan and fouling inside a car. SOLUTION: This air conditioner for an elevator has a body case 8 provided at one end on a car 2; a fan 9 enclosed in the body case 8; and an air filter member 10 covering the outer periphery of the body case 8. Magnets 15, 18 with hook-and-loop fasteners adhesively fixed to the surfaces are attracted to partition plates 13, 16 respectively positioned on both sides of an exhaust port 12, and both ends of the air filter member 10 formed of nonflammable nonwoven fabric are respectively attracted to the hook-and-loop fasteners. Dust contained in air flowing into the body case from an elevator shaft 1 is therefore eliminated by the air filter member 10, and clean air flows in order of an inflow port 11, the body case 8, the exhaust port 12 and the interior of the car 2. The fouling degree of the air filter member 10 exposed to the outer periphery of the body case 8 is recognized at a glance, and the air filter can be attached to and detached from the outer periphery of the body case 8 in a single operation.
