PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packaging material having high practical properties which has good transparency. high gas barrier properties, boiling resistance, whose physical properties are not deteriorated by boiling sterilization and retort sterilization, and which is free from the generation of peeling and others and has boiling resistance and retort resistance. SOLUTION: A primer layer 2, an inorganic oxide thin film layer 3 comprising an inorganic oxide having a thickness of 5-300 mm, and a gas barrier coat layer 4 prepared by applying a coating agent containing an aqueous solution or a water/alcohol mixed solution containing a water-soluble polymer, at least one metal alkoxide, and at least one of its hydrolysate and tin chloride as main agents and drying the coating are laminated in turn on one side of a base material film 1, and a transparent plastic material 5 is laminated on the layer 4 through an adhesive layer, and moreover, a seal layer 6 is laminated on the other side of the film 1 through an adhesive layer.
