PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle roof having an elevatable transparent cover and a slidable and elevatable sunshade member and constructed as easily as possible and at a reasonable cost. SOLUTION: A vehicle roof has a cover 14 for closing a roof opening of a fixed roof surface 10 at a close position and being elevatable for the purpose of ventilation and a sunshade member 16 slidable from a close position where a view from a room space 18 to the cover or the roof opening is shielded by the sunshade member for releasing the view to the cover or the roof opening and displaceable and elevatable together with the cover for supporting ventilating function. The sunshade member 16, when located in a preset rage from the cover 14 is connected to the cover so as to be driven by the cover during elevation of the cover.
