PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevating base ascending/descending device simple in structure, lightweight and large in ascending/descending quantity. SOLUTION: An elevating base ascending/descending device 50 is composed of a vertical post 17, an elevator 30 and a workbench 41. The elevator 30 is provided between the vertical post 17 and the workbench 41 and fastened in such a way that the extending/contracting direction of the respective rods 33 of a first double acting cylinder 32 and a second double acting cylinder 34 is vertical and that the mutual upper face and bottom face of cylinder tubes 36 are flush with each other. The tip part of the rod 33 of the first double acting cylinder 32 is pivotally connected to a post fastening part 17a, and the tip part of the rod 33 of the second double acting cylinder 32 is pivotally connected t a workbench fastening part 41a. A bottom chamber 32a of the first double acting cylinder 32 and a rod chamber 34b of the second double acting cylinder 34 are communicated with each other through a connecting pipe 35, and a rod chamber 32b of the first double acting cylinder 32 and a bottom chamber 34a of the second double acting cylinder 34 are communicated with each other through a communicating pipe 35.
