PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a biodegradable ball which can be decomposed early and can be dumped without having any effect on the environment by processing a biodegradable material composed of a thermoplastic resin principally comprising poly latic acid into spherical shape preferably having a skin formed through thermal fusion. SOLUTION: A biodegradable ball 10 is produced by processing a biodegradable material composed of a thermoplastic resin principally comprising poly latic acid. A biodegradable material in the form of block, fiber, yarn, film, nonwoven fabric, or the like, is employed and a material in the form of fiber, yarn, film or nonwoven fabric is preferably subjected to compression processing in order to impart good elasticity. Alternatively, a foamed block may be subjected to compression or abrasion processing in order to obtain a biodegradable ball. Preferably, a processed material is subjected to thermal processing on the surface layer thereof by means of hot press, or the like, in order to form an integral skin. Consequently, a biodegradable ball excellent in cleaning power and durability and friendly to natural environment is obtained because it exhibits biodegradability even when it is dumped to sea, river, or the like. |
