<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold for forming a glass substrate, which has an extremely smooth press surface and excellent durability, to provide its manufacturing method and to provide a production process of the glass substrate having an extremely smooth surface. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of this mold comprises: forming a mold base material 1 consisting of crystallized glass, by subjecting glass to crystallization treatment while heating the glass under pressure with a master mold so that a press surface 1a of the resulting mold base material 1 is extremely smooth; and also forming an undercoat layer 2 and a protective layer 3 on at least the press surface 1a, wherein the undercoat layer 2 contains at least one compound selected from silicon carbide, silicon nitride and silicon oxide, and also a constituent metal(s) of the protective layer 3 formed on the surface of the undercoat layer 2, and further, the protective layer 3 consists of a thin film of at least one metal selected from tungsten(W), platinum(Pt), palladium(Pd), rhodium(Rh), ruthenium(Ru), iridium(Ir), osmium(Os), rhenium(Re) and tantalum(Ta).</p> |
