PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling device or a cooling method for obtaining low temperature which is not higher than the temperature of an external cooling source without consuming external power. SOLUTION: Refrigerant solution naturally circulates between a generator 1 and an absorber 2 in correspondence with the density difference between refrigerant solution in the generator 1 and refrigerant solution in the absorber 2 in a cooling device or a cooling method employing an absorption cycle. Circulation of the refrigerant solution is assisted by an ejector 13 which uses refrigerant steam as a drive fluid. Refrigerant evaporated from the refrigerant solution in the generator 1 is condensed in a condenser 4 and then evaporated in an evaporator 3. At this moment, low temperature which is not more than the temperature of an external cooling source is obtained at the evaporator 3. Thereafter, the evaporated refrigerant is absorbed by the refrigerant solution in the absorber 2, thus transferring or circulating the refrigerant and the refrigerant solution without consuming external power.
