PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing reel having stable spool braking characteristic in the delivery of a fishing line by the adjustment of an adjusting member and enabling good braking operation without causing troubles even at a fishing point having severe environment. SOLUTION: The fishing reel is provided with a braking device applying a braking force to the rotation of a spool 3 attached to a reel main body. The braking force applied to the spool can be controlled by adjusting the pressing force of a braking member by the rotational operation of a braking force adjusting member 9 rotatably attached to the reel main body. The lining material 1 of the braking mechanism is produced by bonding a heat-resistant lubricating fiber material to the braking face of a hard substrate having rigidity and heat-resistance.
