PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly calculate an ink discharge amount and accurately monitor a remaining amount of ink in an ink container by calculating the ink discharge amount in a predetermined time period by taking an ink feed condition into account. SOLUTION: A feed condition-detecting module 101 of an ink remaining amount-monitoring module 100 detects ink feed conditions related to the ink supply such as an ink temperature, a remaining amount of ink in a cartridge, a dot pattern of ink dots on a recording medium and the like. An ink drop number-counting module 102 counts the number of ink drops discharged from an ink discharge head in a predetermined time period for each color. An ink discharge amount-calculating module 103 multiplies the number of ink drops counted by the module 102 and an ink weight per ink drop, thereby calculating the weight of discharged ink. An ink discharge amount-accumulating/monitoring module 104 accumulates the weight of discharged ink calculated by the module 103, compares with an ink storage amount of the cartridge and displays a remaining amount of ink.
