COMPOSITION FOR FORMATION OF SILICA GLASS USING SOL-GEL PROCESS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compsn. for the formation of silica glass which can efficiently suppress generation of cracks in a gel after dried, which is preferable from the viewpoint of environmental protection, and which is prepared by using a sol-gel process with improved formability. SOLUTION: This compsn. for the formation of silica glass using a sol gel method contains silica particles, dispersant, binder and solvent. In the compsn., the binder is a polymn. reaction product of a premix soln. prepared by dissolving a polymerizable monomer for the formation of an acrylic resin and a crosslinking agent in distilled water. The polymerizable monomer is n-methylol acrylamide or n-methylol methacrylamide.
