PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect accurate combustion state at a plurality of burner ports while reducing the cost by detecting the combustion state at the burner port through a detector different from a flame detector thereby reducing the space of detector. SOLUTION: A liquid fuel combustor comprises a liquid fuel carburetor 3, a heater for heating the carburetor, a burner 8 for mixing vaporized gas ejected from the carburetor 3 and combusting the mixture gas, and means 22 for detecting the combustion state wherein a part of the carburetor 3 is heated by means of the burner 8. The burner 8 is provided with a plurality burner ports arranged along the flow direction of the mixture gas. A part of the carburetor 3 is heated at the burner ports in the downstream and the combustion state at the burner ports in the upstream is detected by a combustion detecting means 22. Furthermore, temperature of the carburetor 3 detected by a temperature detecting means 23 is compared with a set temperature and the combustion state is determined by a carburetor temperature determining means.
