摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new levodione reductase capable of acting on levodione to provide actinol derived from microorganisms belonging to the genus Corynebacterium, and usable for production of the actinol useful as production intermediate or the like for zeaxanthin. SOLUTION: This new enzyme is the new levodione reductase having the following physicochemical properties: molecular weight: 142,000-155,000±10,000 (comprising four kinds of homologous subunits having 36,000±5,000 moiecular weight); cofactor: nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD/NADH); substrate specificity: active to levodione; optimum temperature: 15-20 deg.C at pH 7.0; optimum pH: 7.5; activator: K+, Cs+, Rb+, Na+ and NH4+. The enzyme is useful for production of (4R,6R)-4-hydroxy-2,2,6-trimethylcyclohexanone (actinol) from (6R)-2,2,6- trimethylcyclohexan-1,4-dione (levodione). The enzyme is obtained by culturing microorganisms belonging to the genus Coryneoacterium.</p>
