PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method and device for efficiently washing or sterilizing medical instruments, particularly those with elongated and narrow lumens. SOLUTION: This method is for sanitating an instrument 46 having a lumen, such as an endoscope. The method prepares a container 2 having two or more openings and a flexible gas-impermeable porch 6 surrounding the container 2, puts the instrument 46 in the container 2, depressurizes the container 2 and the porch 6, crushes the porch 6 around the container 2, and forms at least one interface separating the container 2 into two or more sections, the interface being formed when the porch 6 clings to itself and at least a portion of the surface of the instrument 46 through the openings in the container 2 under reduced pressure. One end of the instrument 46 is located in one of the sections while the other end is located in the other of the sections. The method includes the action of sanitating the inner surface of the instrument by passing a sanitary solution through the tube. |
