PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain displacement of positional setting of a motor-driven seat from increasing by counting member movement synchronous pulse to renew member positional data, and initializing the member positional data when the detecting territory is changed. SOLUTION: In a motor-driven seat provided with an electric drive mechanism, the longitudinal direction and the vertical direction are set into orthogonal two axes, and a plane territory formed by a seat moving territory in the longitudinal direction and a head rest moving territory in the vertical direction is divided into four parts by respective axes parallel lines passing through one point nearby the center. It is judged which areas have the points setting the seat longitudinal position and the head rest vertical position as respective axis values. Further, seat movement synchronous pulse is counted to generate the longitudinal position data and the vertical position data, and when the detecting territory is changed, it is renewed so as to express the longitudinal position and the vertical position of one point nearby the center. In this way, probability of initialization of positional data is improved, and displacement of setting of the longitudinal and vertical positions of the seat is restrained from increasing.
