PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition, drastically improved in function of protecting the skin from dermatopathy, high in stability, producing no offensive odor, and useful for external use for preventing dermatopathy by including thiol and zinc compounds. SOLUTION: This composition contains (A) a thiol compound (preferably glutathione or cystine) in, e.g. 0.001 to 20 wt.% based on the whole composition, and (B) a zinc compound (preferably at least one compound selected from the group consisting of zinc gluconate, carbonate (basic), chloride, laurate, myristate and the like, more preferably zinc oxide) in, e.g. 0.01 to 20 wt.% also based on the whole composition, and may be incorporated with (C) an ultraviolet absorber, e.g. p-aminobenzoic acid, and (D) an ultraviolet shielding agent, e.g. titanium dioxide.
