PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a printing speed from being decreased or increased more than necessary by calculating a time in which ink of an amount detected by an ink amount-detecting means can be naturally dried, adjusting the printing speed accordingly thereby adjusting the natural dry time for the ink. SOLUTION: An ink amount-detecting part 22 monitors image data handed to a printer driver 21 and detects an amount of ink printed within an area of an optional size of a recording paper 19. A dry time-calculating part 23 calculates a time necessary for the amount of ink detected by the ink amount- detecting part 22 to be naturally dried on the recording paper 19. A main control part 16 interrupts/resumes transferring image data from a memory 14 to the printer driver 21 to satisfy the calculated natural dry time. Accordingly, the printing by an ink jet recording apparatus 10 is interrupted/resumed, whereby a printing speed is adjusted. The natural dry time can be adjusted according to the amount of ink. |
