PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly measure a body temperature regardless of whether a probe cover is mounted or not concerning a radiation thermometer for measuring the body temperature by detecting the dose of infrared rays emitted from the inside of an earhole. SOLUTION: An infrared ray detection means 6 detects infrared rays emitted from the tympanum or nearby part, a correcting means 11 corrects a temperature corresponding to whether a probe cover 4 is mounted or not, and a temperature converting means 13 performs temperature conversion on the basis of the signals of the correcting means 11 and the infrared ray detecting means 6. Thus, the body temperature can be exactly measured regardless of whether the probe cover 4 is mounted or not, convenience is improved since the probe cover 4 can be selectively used corresponding to a purpose, and the consumption of resources such as the disposal of the probe cover 4 can be decreased.
