PURPOSE: To rapidly neutralize charges generating on a rubbing roller and to prevent dielectric breakdown due to electrostatic charges by providing a roller to remove electrostatic charges which is in contact with a rubbing roller and synchronously rotates with the rubbing roller. CONSTITUTION: A roller 5 to remove electrostatic charges is housed above a rubbing roller 3 in a roller box 4. The rubbing roller 3 and the roller 5 to remove electrostatic charges synchronously rotate in the opposite direction to each other with a belt 6 stretched between the respective pulleys 3a and 5a. The two rollers 3, 5 are brought into contact with each other while rotating by attaching a supporting rod 7 to the axis of the roller 5, a supporting rod 8 to the axis of the rubbing roller 3, a spring 9 between two supporting rods to energize 9. The roller 5 to remove electrostatic charges is grounded through the supporting rod 7. The rubbing roller 3 is pressed to a liquid crystal panel 2 for orientation treatment. Negative charges generating in the roller 3 are released to the ground through the roller 5 and the rod 7. |
