At a start of installation of computer software, the recording media product serial number and the hardware volume serial number are read. The serial numbers are presented to the user, while they are used to create an enciphered password that is not to be notified. When a management center is informed of the volume serial number and the product serial number given by the hardware, a password enciphered according to the information is delivered to the user. If the delivered password coincides with the enciphered password generated in the hardware, then the installation of the software is permitted. |
