PURPOSE: An apparatus for and a method of forming wet type image are provided to achieve a high quality printing while protecting a toner image at a wet state which is likely to be damaged by a friction prior to being dried. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a temperature detecting unit arranged at a side of an image drying roller so as to detect an actual temperature of the image drying roller, a temperature comparing unit for comparing the actual temperature output from the temperature detecting unit with a reference temperature of a predetermined range and judging whether the image drying roller is maintaining the reference temperature, and a controller for controlling the image drying roller to be heated up to a reference temperature so as to evaporate the liquid carrier absorbed in the image drying roller if it is judged that the image drying roller is not maintaining the reference temperature.
