METHOD FOR PREPARING POROUS CERAMIC CARRIERS

PURPOSE: A process for preparing a porous microorganism fixing ceramic carrier using inexpensive material containing waste is provided which produces a carrier having high mechanical strength and fixing capacity. CONSTITUTION: A process comprises preparing flying ash and coal powder, kneading after mixing flying ash and coal powder in a weight ratio of 14 : 1 to 160 : 1 and mixing with a proper amount of water and a binder, moulding, and drying the molded product and calcining at 1,050 to 1,150°C for 30 mins to 1 hr. The carrier comprises the binder and the flying ash in a weight ratio of 1 : 1.5 to 1 : 4 and the flying ash and coal powder in a weight ratio of 14 : 1 to 160 : 1. The carrier has excellent strength and wear resistance as compared with conventional ceramic carrier.
