PURPOSE: An umbrella that is convenient to bring with as its small size and has a wide umbrella paper enough to shelter from rain completely is provided by having a telescopic structure. CONSTITUTION: In an umbrella comprised of an umbrella frame(2) of which one side edge is hinged to an upper bracket(5), an umbrella frame supporting bar(6) that is hinged to the middle part of the umbrella frame(2), other edge of the supporting bar(6) that is hinged to a middle bracket(4) which is installed at the middle of an umbrella bar(1) in a way to be movable up and down, and a knob(3) installed at one edge of the umbrella bar(1) in order to facilitate to unfold the umbrella, the umbrella frame and bar is characteristically made of a multitude of pipes(11-17) having different diameters, like the structure of a telescope. The telescopic umbrella has a contraction preventing means at a joint part of each pipe, and the lowest one of the pipes, which is connected with a hand grip, has a projected knob operating part which is installed to be movable toward each side and is supported elastically by a spring. An umbrella fixing bar where projected knob is also installed is located in the center of the handgrip. The middle bracket is installed to operate a folding prevention piece, which prevents the umbrella from being folded, to be hinged, by being hooked by a middle bracket hooking part that passes through the highest one among pipes.
