SYSTEM FOR INPUTTING CHARACTERS USING TELEPHONE KEYPAD

PURPOSE: A system for inputting vowels/consonants of Hangul(Korean character) is provided, so that a user can easily input numbers and the Hangul by operating a telephone keypad only. CONSTITUTION: A system for inputting characters using a telephone keypad, comprises the keypad(10), a controller(20), a look-up table(30), a module(40), and a database(50). The keypad is composed of many numbers and functional keys. Vowels and consonants of the Hangul, English alphabets, and symbols are arranged in the numbers and the functional keys. The controller controls operations of each configuration to input characters. The look-up table previously stores the alphabets, the symbols, and the vowels/the consonants of the Hangul, which correspond to inputs of the numbers and the functional keys, as tables. The module combines characters or symbols loaded from the look-up table to complete sentences. The database records functions of a telephone and the completed sentences of the module. The database indexes recording contents with initial phonemes to make the database. The database retrieves the indexed contents with indexes of the initial phonemes.
