PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to improve aperture ratio of the liquid crystal display device. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes a gate line(20), a data line(60,61,62), a pixel, a thin film transistor, and an alignment layer. The gate line(20) is formed on a transparent substrate. The data line(60,61,62) is formed on the substrate and crosses the gate line. The pixel includes a pixel electrode spaces from the common electrode. The thin film transistor includes a gate electrode(21), a source line(61), and a drain electrode(62) which are coupled with the gate line, the data line, and the pixel electrode. The alignment layer is rubbed so as to align the liquid crystal molecules driven by the common electrode and the pixel electrode in normal to the data line.
