PURPOSE: A glass melting furnace capable of restraining the external air from flowing in through a burner entrance and reducing inconvenience by waste gas is provided which can prevent heat loss and waste gas from being discharged through a burner entrance. CONSTITUTION: A glass melting furnace (1) comprises a melting furnace for melting glass raw material and a plurality of heat storage chambers (11) arranged at both sides of the melting furnace side by side, wherein it comprises a plurality of ports (15) communicating with the melting furnace and the both heat storage chambers; a plurality of burners (13) installed to be free from coming in and out in the port; a switching device (25) which opens a burner entrance formed in the port when the burner is positioned inside the port and closes the burner entrance when the burner is positioned outside the port.
