PURPOSE: A method for setting language of an on screen display of a digital broadcasting receiving system and an apparatus for doing the same are provided to display the on screen display with an appropriate language. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for setting language of an on screen display of a digital broadcasting receiving system includes a broadcasting signal receiver(10) as well as a language determiner(13). The broadcasting signal receiver(10) receives the digital broadcasting signal. The language determiner(13) determines the language of the on screen display which is provided by the digital broadcasting signal receiver. The broadcasting signal receiver further includes a memory and a processor. The memory stores a plurality of font data. The processor compares the data received by the receiver and the font data which are stored in the memory.
