PURPOSE: An alignment mark of a panel for a plane cathode ray tube is to change a shape of the alignment mark for aligning the panel and a shadow mask, thereby increasing an accuracy of the aligning process. CONSTITUTION: An alignment mark(10) of a panel(1) for a plane cathode ray tube is formed on a non-available surface(1b) at a long and short side of the panel, and a shadow mask is aligned with the panel based on the alignment mark. The alignment mark is designed in the form of a line having a constant width or a quadrangle, and at least one or more alignment mark is formed at each long and short side of the panel. The alignment mark has a length which is same as the each side of the adjacent panel or is shorter than that. The shadow is welded to the panel after being precisely aligned using the alignment mark.
