PURPOSE: A system for recognizing an iris is provided to save time for detecting iris image, by decreasing user's denial feeling, and making compact with a front side of an optical imaging device making a sunken shape. CONSTITUTION: In a system for recognizing an iris having an optical imaging device, which comprises an inside supporting equipments for detecting iris image, an outside case fixing the inside case, and controller analyzing iris image, the inside case of the optical imaging device has a camera(17), an illuminator(16), and a distance measuring sensor(19). A front side of the case has a sunken shape. The illuminator(16) supplies light for being detected the iris image by the camera(17), regardless of neighboring brightness. The distance measuring sensor(19) measures distance to the iris.
