PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the method for processing the silver halide photographic sensitive material high in sensitivity and freed of residual dye stains by developing this material containing specified silver halide grains in an alkaline developing solution. SOLUTION: The hydrophilic colloidal layer of this sensitive material contains the flat silver halide grains having pricipal (111) faces, a corresponding circle diameter of 0.5-5.0μm, and a thickness of 0.07-0.7μm, and further, silver halide protuberances, that the epitaxial stick of the face-centered cubic lattice structure forming the epitaxy connecting part is executed, located on the circumferential parts of the flat grains, and these protuberances are formed when an average grain distance between each grain reachs near minimum in the average distance shown in the expression: average grain distance=(reactant solution volume/ growing grains number)1/3. The silver halide photographic sensitive material containing in the hydrophilic colloidal layer the silver halide grains satisfying these conditions is processed with the alkali developing solution containing reductones.
